Mi Vida Loca, Spanish Calendar and Viaje Cultural.

Hola Estudiantes and Families!

Thank you for your time, effort, and patience during distance learning. Students have worked hard to complete assignments and maintain motivation. For the last couple of weeks, we have been learning Spanish through an interactive Spanish Drama called Mi Vida Loca. Students have visited Madrid, Spain, and they have learned to ask basic questions, meet and greet, finding directions, using numbers, ordering food at a restaurant, and a lot of vocabulary. We are in the middle of the show, 12 more episodes to find out where Teresa is. Please invite your student to watch the episodes again to become familiar with the pronunciation and improve their listening skills.

Mi Vida Loca Exam

Next week (Week # 25), students will have an exam of Mi Vida Loca episodes 1 to 12. The exam will include:

  • Communication - use of Spanish to meet & greet, basic directions, order at a café, asking for the bill, buy tickets (bus, train), book a room, shop for food and basic items.

  • Knowledge of the episodes (What happened, who is involved, where is Merche, why is she hiding).

IF YOU NEED ACCOMMODATION FOR YOUR STUDENT, PLEASE CONNECT WITH ME, AND WE WILL USE PANTHER POWER DAY TO COMPLETE THE EXAM.

Viaje Cultural/Cultural Journey

I am sharing with you the class calendar until Spring break. Also, I want you to be aware that students will work in groups sharing a cultural journey for the remainder of the year. A cultural journey is an opportunity for students to discover the culture, history, art, gastronomy, religion, sports, ethnicity, and traditions of most Spanish-speaking countries. Every week, students will present a 2 min Google Slide of their interest to build cultural competency and grammatically correct sentences describing the country of choice.

Therefore, participation is essential to the success of this project.

Students will play two roles.

  1. Presenter Job - Be prepared to present a 2 min Google Slides of the selected topic.

Slide # 1 = 5 Sentences in Spanish.

Slide # 2 = 5 images to illustrate your work.

Slide # 3 = References

2.Audience Job - Active listening. Using the exit ticket (teacher provided) to ask the presenter - What, Who, Where, How, and Why.
