I am excited to learn Spanish with you this new school year! I am a creative educator, storyteller, and lifelong learner. I am passionate about Spanish culture and dialects and empowering my students to perform beyond expectations!
In class, through a Spanish Immersion approach, you will identify basic facts, recognize and engage with the spoken words and text, and respond appropriately to suit the context. Also, you will be encouraged to develop and strengthen your identity by experiencing lots of hands-on activities such as cooking, designing fantastic pieces of work, and working with classmates to learn about Spanish-speaking culture, among many others.
Finally, you will use these experiences to broaden your vision of what you can do to impact your community with knowledge, tolerance, love, kindness, and social responsibility.

Dear Students and Families,
I created the website The Orange Koffer (orange suitcase) to provide students access to additional resources to learn Spanish wherever they go. As a language learner myself I wish I had the access you have on this website to practice listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills to support what we learn in class. Personally, online learning has helped me achieve academic goals, maintain contact with family and friends, and support the students and families I have worked with for many years. Google Classroom is where you will find your assignments and important class information. I am blessed for having the opportunity to work with you and your family for another year!

Yo soy...
My name is Maria Fabiola Toledo. I was born in Caracas -Venezuela, and I moved to Minneapolis - Minnesota, twenty years ago. I am an educator, a parent, a facilitator, and a researcher interested in creating a classroom environment where my students feel welcome to learn, connect, share, and grow beyond expectations.
I am a transformational leader currently studying a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. I am interested in how to empower students through the study of youth development, culturally responsive teaching, and emotional intelligence, among many others.
I am a storyteller, but I love listening to people's stories. I love cooking big meals for my friends and family, reading articles about education, and swimming.
My classroom is my second home, and each of you is part of my family. I am passionate about the work I do and my commitment to making this world a better place for all of you.
